Changelog
2.7.2
Updated disclaimer to Aroma users about SD card access. This'll now require rebooting your Wii U manually without Aroma (by holding R while booting) and using https://dumpingapp.com.
2.7.1
Aroma users will now be asked if they want to enable SD card access. This does now require shutting down Aroma temporarily while Dumpling is running.
This is to prevent potential SD card corruption caused by Dumpling and Aroma simultaneously accessing the SD card.
USB sticks are always accessible regardless of the option you pick.
Fix font rendering at the boot-up screen
2.7.0
Add an option to dump but also automatically upload your SpotPass data to the SpotPass Archival Project.
This feature was specifically added because the SpotBass servers will be shutdown soon. Please consider contributing your data!
Thanks to @EpicUsername12 for contributing this feature!
2.6.4
Hotfix for .rpx files on discs resulting in an error
2.6.3
Use product code when (some) japanese titles can't be used as folder name
Fix softlock when starting dumps with no games/updates/DLC present
Update to new devkitPPC version
2.6.2
Fix bug where you couldn't dump online files for non-ascii usernames. They'll now be stored using alternative folder names.
Decreased Dumpling's binary size by using libschrift instead of freetype2 for font rendering
Optimized font rendering so that it's now 2x faster. This doesn't really improve dumping speed, although it might feel more responsive overall.
Thanks to @Maschell for telling me about libschrift!
2.6.1
Fix bug where if you had 12 Wii U accounts (which is the maximum amount allowed) the last one wouldn't show up. Thanks @jbmagination for finding and fixing this!
2.6.0
Add official Aroma support and .wuhb releases
Added a new home menu icon and boot screen, made by @emiyl
Exiting while using Aroma should no longer result in a black screen
Major rework of file transferring code, resulting in a massive speed improvement
Games with tons of files now dump up to 12x faster (e.g. Breath of the Wild which takes 25 minutes instead of 4+ hours)!
All games benefit from a good 2-3x improvement!
This was possible using a multithreaded writing process (thanks @Xpl0itU and @wchill!) and adding Dumpling-specific fat32 caching methods (thanks @Exzap for helping)
Now uses fatfs instead of libfat
Adds support for exfat drives
Much improved USB drive support so that previously unrecognized USB drives now work
Allows for the now multithreaded file dumping
Fixed jumpy dumping speed and estimated dumping time while dumping
Show total time after successful dump
Cleaned up multiple menus into a singular, more explanatory option menu
Can now optionally delete incomplete files if an error occurred or if you cancel while dumping
Fix inverted option to only dump the disc files but not the update/DLC
Thanks to Tomk007 and Jaimie for helping me test all of the experimental optimizations!
2.5.0
Uses new libmocha instead of libiosuhax, improving speed and stability.
Thanks Maschell and GaryOderNichts!
Give more and improved error messages
Finally fixes discs producing incomplete dumps without showing any errors!
Improve dumping speeds by 1.5x and more to come!
Allow only dumping disc files without updates/DLC to speed up dumping times by:
Dump updates/DLC all at once later to have to wait shorter between swapping discs.
Using DumpsterU, Cemu's online features or an existing MLC dump instead.
2.4.3
Fix save files not being picked up.
2.4.2
Fix .rpx files only being partially dumped for disc games! More permanent fix in the next proper release.
2.4.1
Fix multiple disc dumping
Add some filesystem fixes found by Maschell
... and some more fixes!
2.3.0
Same GUI, but reworked rendering! Can now display kanji, button prompts and a lot more, plus other GUI improvements have been done.
Added dedicated save dumping feature and added save meta parsing!
Games with titles with a lot of characters like japanese titles will now be listed properly.
A lot of code was cleaned up and improvements were made.
2.2.3
Fix regression that'd cause a loop when selecting account files.
2.2.2
Fix regression with detecting disc games when using internal CFW
Fix regression with console not shutting off when using internal CFW
2.2.1
Use Tiramisu CFW whenever it's available instead of internal CFW
- Doesn't shutdown Wii U when you exit and also just allows for a better experience when using Tiramisu.
Improvements to internal CFW
- Clean up previous jank required for dumping discs, since the internal CFW no longer uses a MCP hook.
- Should also detect discs inserted before Dumpling started now.
Add option to dump saves/accounts as a non-default account. Previously it would dump it as a default user id so that you can merge it with existing saves. Now it defaults to that (unless you dump multiple accounts) but you can disable it.
2.2.0
Add support for using Dumpling without an SD card (just requires a USB stick for now) when launching Dumpling through https://dumplingapp.com.
- Will still be available for normal homebrew users, just meant for making dumping games easier and more accessible.
- Code of this launcher can be found at https://github.com/emiyl/dumpling-launcher/
Support for Aroma is planned!
2.1.4
Allow discs to be detected even if you insert them before Dumpling has started.
2.1.3
Add eShop key file to the Online Cemu Files dumping option
2.1.2
Fixes ability to dump some games with weird names (like NSMBU. U + NSLU)
Show locations as an error when it can't create a folder.
As a workaround, ask user to reinsert their discs. This is due to how Dumpling needs an disc inserting event at the moment.
2.1.1
Fix disc dumping which I broke in the previous release! I've tested it this time however!
Seeprom dumping is also fixed, so the online mode dumping should now work correctly!
Dump size scanning is reworked and is no longer required. It'll show the pros and cons of the scanning the dump size before dumping.
Dump size scanning is also fixed to scan the correct dumping size, which fixes situations where it incorrectly complains about a lack of space and the overall dumping progress being shown incorrectly.
Might be slightly faster for games that have many files.
2.1.0
Integrated Dumpling's own CFW! You no longer need to have started Mocha or Haxchi before running Dumpling!
Added otp.bin and seeprom.bin dumping! No longer requires nand dumper to dump additional files for online play!
Fixed disc dumping not working for Haxchi users!
Disc dumping is made more stable and faster!
Can insert and unplug USB sticks while Dumpling is running. Would require restarting Dumpling previously.
Added warning that USB stick must use single partition since USB sticks might not be detected otherwise.
Removed compatibility files option since Online Dumping option already covers those files.
2.0.4
Fix option menu not showing up in the disc copy menu, so now you can dump your discs to the USB stick.
Dump mii files when dumping online files, so now they'll show up properly in online games.
Remove some requirements for a complete copy, so Japanese games should dump properly now.
Show some extra information when it fails to write to the SD card or USB stick.
Show version number in Dumpling itself.
2.0.3
Fix .rpx files from discs not being dumped correctly, causing them to be corrupted.
2.0.2
Fix that the game dumps weren't put into a subdirectory for each game - whoops!
Make the start of the dumping process faster.
2.0
Fully reworked from dumpling-classic, there's too many changes to list.
To just list the most important ones:
Fixed the super slow transfers, it's now much faster overall. Breath of the Wild updates for example should no longer take an actual eternity!
Faster meta parsing resulting in very fast booting times. I bet you won't even see the credits!
A new GUI which is much simpler!
Just overall more coherency in terms of dumping games.
Many QoL improvements!
Uses a fully new toolchain called WUT, which should improve the code quality since it allows us to use new features. Only really noticeable in the binary size, which is much smaller.
Much improved code structure that was designed from the ground up. Good for future updates to be build upon!
1.1.2
Discs with a system update no longer freeze on fetching metadata
Characters such as colons and periods have been removed when dumping to avoid errors
1.1.1
Support for dumping only specific parts of a title
e.g. only dump the save instead of everything
Haxchi support has been added
Support for extra controllers has been added
General menu and UI improvements
Account data will now dump to dumpling/account_data instead of dumpling/online_files.
Thanks to @GaryOderNichts for implementing Haxchi and controller support
1.0.1
This release adds the option to dump specific games, rather than just dumping all of them.
When you dump a game, it'll grab the game, update, DLC and save file for the game if they exist. When you initially load the menu, it'll take a while to fetch the metadata for each game but afterwards it won't need to do that again until you reload the app.
This version also includes a lot of minor fixes and improvements, specifically to how the app handles dumping from USB storage.
v1.0.1 fixes a typo in v1.0.
0.4
- You can now dump physical game discs to USB/SD
- The dumps will be created at /dumpling/disc on your storage device
- MLC tab has been renamed to System
0.3
You can now dump to a FAT32 USB drive from dumpling.
1. Plug your drive into your Wii U
2. Launch dumpling
3. Use ZL/ZR to toggle dump target
4. Dump!
0.2.2
You can now cancel halfway through a dump by holding down B.
0.2
This release now lets you dump titles from a USB storage device instead of NAND.
