App Details
It features an express installer to quickly get your vWii ready with the Homebrew Channel, USB Loader GX, d2x cIOS, WAD installation, and the Open Shop Channel (Homebrew Browser / LibreShop).
It also doubles as an advanced maintenance and recovery tool featuring a vWii Region Change Wizard to switch your vWii region (EUR, USA, JPN) with selective asset downloading and cleanup, and a Decaf Menu (Reinstall & Wipe) that fully replaces vWii-Decaffeinator with direct NUS downloading (bypassing DNS and Aroma update blocks), granular system wipes, integrity scanning, and setting.txt management.
Changelog
v2.1.1
What's Changed
- fix screen corruption after some multiselects (Like manual d2x or ULGX install)
v2.1
- Region Change Wizard (only reinstalls what needs to change)
- Unbricking features (fully replacing Decaffinator)
- Scan System (checks what was tampered with to offer selective reinstall)
- Wipe System Titles and reinstall them (preserving user titles)
- Wipe Everything except tickets and reinstall
- Wipe Everything and reinstall
- Selective title deletion (while keeping data)
- settings.txt tools
- Regenerate settings.txt (with correct permissions!)
- settings.txt editor
- settings.txt backup and restore
- Create all files and directories with stock permissions instead of just chmod 666
- Bump version to v2.1
Note on Decaffinator:
While Decaffinator is a clever tool and I took huge inspiration from it, it had a few problems:
- It didn't set the permissions on regeneration of the settings.txt. If the settings.txt was ever deleted or the permissions were otherwise lost, Decaffinator wouldn't fix it, even in aggressive mode. The vWii would just boot to a black screen.
- It required disabling all update blocks, and many users failed at that.
- It went straight to the settings app while the updates were still blocked by Aroma, adding to the confusion.
All of this is solved in the compat installer. It regenerates the settings.txt with the correct permissions (which are also detected during the scan) and downloads and reinstalls the system titles by itself. Additionally, the process is significantly faster because it uses the scan to fix only what is actually broken.
v2.0
Credits to @zer00p for this release, changelog:
- Add wad install functionality
- d2x cios download and install
- IOS80 Patcher
- usbloader gx + Forwarder Channel + Aroma Forwarder
- Homebrew Browser / LibreShop download
- Express Install / Uninstall for everything above
- Reinstall option for system titles (should be a more convenient replacement for the decaffinator, since it doesn't run into problems with the update block)
- (Experimental) Drive Inquiry Patch for the most common IOSes (the one from Gary, so the vWii is usable without disc drive)
